In Kenya, roadside signs are the most cost-effective outdoor advertising option and are also the simplest to initiate and manage due to their relatively low expense.
These are the small signs located on the reserves of minor roads.
Fikia Ventures can assist you with the process outlined below, helping you save both time and money. Feel free to contact us at 0735 099 271.
Benefits
Highly affordable - the costs for fabrication, installation, and county fees are generally low.
Minimal maintenance expenses - simply paint the frames annually and replace the stickers/banner once or twice a year, and these signs can last up to five years.
Localized Targeting - These signs are perfect for businesses focusing on roads in neighborhoods near your branches and also benefit businesses whose potential customers are concentrated on specific roads or areas.
Customization and Creativity - You can design these signs with imaginative visuals, colors, and messages to attract attention.
Design and Production
The creation of these signs includes welding metal square or round tubes, onto which the advertisement is mounted using metal sheets, banners, Aluco boards, and other materials based on the complexity of your design and budget.
We produce and set up roadside signs starting at just Sh15,000.
Approval Process
Capture detailed photographs of the area where you intend to place the sign, using a camera app that records GPS information of the location.
Compose a letter addressed to the Assistant Director of Outdoor Advertising at Nairobi City County.
Print the letter along with one photograph and deliver them in person to the Nairobi City Hall annex on the 4th floor.
If the road reserve location you selected is managed by the county government (typically for roads overseen by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority, KURA, or the Kenya Rural Roads Authority, KeRRA), county approval is the only requirement.
If the location is under the jurisdiction of KeNHA (Kenya National Highways Authority), an additional approval is required.
Costs
Nairobi County Government
If the total advertising surface area is less than 3 square meters, the county charges Sh 11,000 annually and a Sh1,500 application fee.
If the total advertising surface area exceeds 3 square meters, the county charges Sh36,400 for the first 3 meters and Sh 3,000 for each additional meter. An application fee of Sh10,000 is also required.
NB: Costs vary across different counties
KeNHA
When KeNHA is involved, submit an application on their website where you will upload site photos and an engineer's drawings of the sign you plan to install.
KeNHA charges Sh5,000 per meter annually.
They also require a Sh5,000 per meter payment as assurance. Most of this payment is refunded to you once KeNHA confirms that the road and surrounding infrastructure have not been altered.
